Mildura Nowingi Place Sound Shell

The Nowingi Place is a riverfront performance venue in Mildura on the banks of Murray River. Performances here range in diversity from opera to rock, The Wiggles to ballet.

Designed for Mildura Rural City Council by Jackson Architecture and Tensys Engineers, Oasis was chosen to construct this translucent PVC/PES Sound Shell Structure.

Built in a flood prone area, the structure is detailed to be demountable. As with other Tensys designs, detailing is exacting. Oasis fulfilled all of the requirements dictated by the design.

Natural light is enhanced  by a lens shaped pod in the fabric that’s perfectly positioned above the stage. Another pleasing and functional feature are trussed masts at the front that support lights and speakers.

The site construction process was made more difficult by hinged bases at all supports, a partly completed stage, obstacles and fine red sand.

Whilst this was a demanding project to build, our satisfaction is derived from positive press and comments since its construction such as………..

“The lighting and sound that was there was wonderful,”

“The sail looked quite spectacular”

“It worked well sound-wise and the artists loved the venue.”
